A Florida woman by the name of Brandy Hutchins killed her 10-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter before shooting herself in a ādouble murder-suicideā incident.
Hutchins, 43, who was found dead with her two children on Sunday morning in Waverly, Fla., following what authorities say was a custody battle with her son's father. The daughter has been identified as Hannah Griner and the son was Aiden Hutchins. The daughter was an adult with a different father and was not part of the custody dispute.
Hutchinsā ex-husband, traveled from Maine to Florida for a court appearance with his ex-wife, as she had missed turning Aidenās custody over to his father. The judge then ordered her to hand Aiden over to his father by Friday.
She allegedly did not follow the order, prompting a weekend-long search that included phone pings and social media posts from friends.
The police received a call and were provided information that Brandy Hutchins was inside a mobile home with her two children. Deputies arrived Sunday afternoon at the womanās home and discovered the bodies of the boy, his half-sister, and the mother.
On Sunday, the boyās father addressed his sonās death on Facebook:
āIt is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to give everyone an update about my son Aiden Hutchins who was taken by his mother on August 25, 2023 who decided to murder him,ā he wrote. āHe was killed by her today, August 27, 2023. He will forever be in my heart and did not deserve this. Rest in peace my sweet boy I will see you again. I love you ā„ā
